~ SARAH, JOURNEY TO THE UNKNOWN!
As Abraham was the father of faith, Sarah could equally be called the mother of hope. Sarah is married to a man who takes her on an erratic journey of faith. She follows a man who leaves home to the unknown, not knowing where he was going. Abraham her husband has just found a ‘new God’, a ‘new vision’ and a ‘new direction’. But the road this new direction leads is through the unknown. On this road they will both live without monthly paycheck, no welfare support, no extended family relationship. They will live DEPENDENTLY and TRUSTFULLY on God. A life Sarah wasn’t familiar with. Following Abraham meant Sarah will have to make a faith adjustment, a lifestyle adjustment, if they are to stay married. Abraham is living off the chart of human reasoning, Sarah has to improve herself, if she would understand him. She stays with Abraham even when society called him crazy, she stayed with Abraham even when family laughed at his quest to the unknown. Sarah journeys with Abraham to a place without a name!If Abraham was kept by faith, Sarah was sustained by hope. All she leaned upon was the promises Abraham her husband kept assuring her he had received from God. And I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. And I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her.” Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?” Genesis 17:15-16 Not many people can go through the journey of faith Sarah went with Abraham. She fought mockery, she fought barrenness, she fought delay. God used waiting years to mature Sarah. Waiting taught her faith. “Abraham and Sarah were old and advancing in years; Sarah had long since passed menopause.” Genesis 18:11 These couples lived through adversity, yet they conquered. At the end of their journey Isaiah has something to say about them: “Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” Isaiah 51:2 They have become model to look unto.~
