PROGRESS DOESN’T LOOK ALIKE

What is progress ?  It is a forward or onward movement towards a destination. What if you are making a forward and onward movement towards the wrong destination? You see, progress is impossible to measure without knowing the destination, the purpose or the task. 

   What people celebrate today is MOVEMENT not PROGRESS. A person can be successful in their MOVEMENT politically, religiously, career , ministry , music and arts yet they have not made progress. Whilst progress focuses on destination , movement focus on “doing” without “being.” 

Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD. “ Jonah 1

The story of Jonah reminds us how Jonah is given a mission to Nineveh to preach against it. Instead, Jonah runs (movement) to Tarshish. Jonah’s progress is measured by his obedience to go to Nineveh, not his movement to Tarshish. If Jonah became successful in Tarshish society would applaud him never knowing Jonah’s success is not “Progress” he is in disobedience. 

And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest.” Luke 12:16

The parable was about a rich whose ground yielded an abundant harvest. He misinterprets movement for progress. The abundance of harvest is was NOT progress it was movement . 

Don’t stop at movement

And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’Luke 12:19

What is the reason for my abundance harvest? What is the use of my abundance? Is my abundance for my merriment or for Kingdom

Advancement? The rich man’s abundance was for himself alone, for his ego, for Fortune 500. He wanted to boast , he is a self man millionaire. 

But Elohim said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself.” Luke 12:20

He is a fool who makes movement without progress.
